If you have ever overeaten you’d know how a bloated and crampy stomach feels. But it felt so good to have that extra slice of pizza? And how can you resist if the taste is delicious? The key here is to actively aware of the moment or in simple terms, just be present.
As Watts* points out that many indigenous tribes give special attention to their body’s wisdom and let their stomach dictate how much they eat. By actually listening to their body, they stop eating once it tells them that it is satisfied.
This is the opposite to how most of us in the modern society eat and never listen to our stomach. We eat with the head, foregoing the pleasure of the food and eating as much as possible.
The hint is to let the inner voice guide you by attuning to your body. If your body doesn’t approve of something you’re doing, it will sure to speak up!
So let's be wise and remember to follow your gut feeling.
